These are very ideal safari stop overs.Lake Baringo is a fresh water lake in Rift valley.Its a traditional home for the Njemps tribe. Boat riding offers a great chance to spot hippos and the eagle-feeding that brings you closer to the encounter with the magnificent African fish eagle. You can find a lot of birds in lake Baringo such as the the pied king fisher,comorrants,African darter,hammerkop and much more. The lake has Nile crocodiles and monitor lizards you can spot them sun basking on the shores. Lake Bogoria is also a great birding paradise the lesser flamingos flock in the shallow waters to feed on the algae,mixed in are greater flamingos as well and pelicans can be found .Lake Bogoria is a saline alkaline lake. You can also get lucky and spot the beautiful malachite king fisher. The lake is also famous for geysers and hot springs that are found along the banks and in the lake. Make a plan to visit these two lakes which are located an hour and half away from each other.
2 DAYS LAKE BARINGO – LAKE BOGORIA
DAY 1-
Depart from Eldoret/Nairobi to Lake Bogoria where you will enjoy superb bird watching including flamingos and visit the hot springs. If you are departing from Eldoret on your way to Bogoria you can stop over at the Chebloch gorge, and have a glance at the brave, young divers at the Kerio River. Spend the night at the camp/lodge either in Bogoria or Lake Baringo (Soi safari lodge/Island camp).
DAY 2-
Enjoy the sunrise on a boat ride at Lake Baringo, a fresh water lakes in the Great Rift Valley. The trip also offers great bird watching sessions of the Hamerkop, the African fish eagle and many others. Enjoy viewing crocodiles, hippos and other types of reptiles like the monitor lizards etc. Visit the snake park where you’ll see several types of snakes the puff udders, pythons etc. then leave for Eldoret/Nairobi.
